Originally presented to a cousin of author Charles Coleman, offered here is this beautiful 'The Trail of the Stanley Cup' three-volume matching-numbered leather-bound set that has been signed on the inside of each book by Coleman with a lovely personalized message to his cousin. A definite prerequisite to any important hockey library and chalked full of informaion. Author Coleman's complete history of hockey and Lord Stanley's trophy from 1893 to 1967 is contained within the three books. Only 1,000 copies of the special leather-bound editions of the first and second volumes were produced and presented to important hockey figures (or special family members), while the third was limited to 1,500 copies. Each numbered "180" on the inside, a still present NHL bookplate reading "Cortland W. MacNeil" is affixed within the first volume. Retaining their original slip cases that show just light wear from age and handling at the edges and corners, the books also show just light overall handling wear, present over all three volumes and largely contained to the spines with some fading to the gold text being exhibited with light toning observed to the interior pages. Additionally, some pen notations/scribbled are present on the inside of Volume III’s slip case and interior pages.
