Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/21/2024
Experiencing different trajectories in the WHA, the New York Raiders would not even last a full season, while the Winnipeg Jets competed in all seven of the WHA seasons and was the most successful club, winning a trio of Avco Cup championships and making five of the seven finals. This scarce WHA full ticket was produced for the very first game for each club on Oct 12, 1972, and it has been recently graded VG 3 (MK) by PSA. Taking place at MSG, the ticket lists the opponents, date, seat and original purchase price of $7.50. The Jets would take the victory this day 6-4 on the strength of a four-goal performance by Christian Bordeleau - a replacement for Bobby Hull, as a lawsuit from the NHL kept the Golden Jet out of the line-up. Exhibiting light wear, "Linda" is handwritten on the reverse. This ticket is the only example graded by PSA, and it represents the earliest days of the WHA. A must for collectors of the rebel league!
