Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023

The 7th overall draft choice in 1983 and appearing for seven different NHL clubs throughout his 1,000+ contests, Russ Courtnall also represented Canada, including at the World Championships, Canada Cup and Winter Olympics. From his lone season in The Big Apple where he appeared in just 14 games, we have a New York Rangers jersey issued to the Duncan native in 1996-97. Starter Center Ice labeling with a “54-R” swatch is affixed to the collar with "12" handwritten, with embroidered Starter and NHL crests over the reverse hem. Styled with “Rangers” arching across the chest in individual drop-shadow tackle twill letters, “12” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in matching material, with the dual-clasp fight strap intact. Despite the accompanying jersey stating "game-worn", there is no wear from use visible, so the jersey is being sold as game issued. The team patch resides on the inside hem, and it denotes a serial number of "MGS#100731".
