This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
A veteran of over 600 National Hockey League games and a Stanley Cup champion in 2003 as a member of the New Jersey Devils, Richard Smehlik would also suit up for his home country, the Czech Republic, on numerous occasions throughout his career, winning a gold medal at the 1998 Winter Olympic Games in Nagano, Japan. This photo-matched Devils jersey was worn by Smehlik during the Stanley Cup championship season of 2002-03. A size “54” tag sits along the collar, with the back neckline and bottom hem graced with embroidered CCM and NHL crests respectively. Featuring a beautiful tri-layer tackle twill team crest, the V-neck "White Set 2” garment has been adorned with double-twill sleeve and verso numbers. There is a stick mark near the team crest, with two team repairs to the lower front. There are a few marks and burns to the sleeves, with an additional team repair and some red paint transfer to the lower right sleeve. Getty Image #52332540 (2003 season) has been matched to the two holes over the lower front that are both now repaired. An LOA from the Devils will accompany, along with a COR from MeiGray.
