Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
Drafted 240th overall by the Blueshirts at the 1992 NHL Entry Draft, Vladimir Vorobiev’s National Hockey League career would see him suit up for a total of 33 games over the course of three (3) seasons split between the Rangers and the Edmonton Oilers. Up for grabs here, is this jersey New York Rangers prepared for Vorobiev's use during the 1998-99 season. Made by Starter, the all-mesh construction tie-neck style garment sports both size “56-R” and Center Ice/Starter labels affixed to the inner collar while the Starter wordmark and NHL shield logos have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated with “Rangers” going diagonally down the chest in individually sewn on drop shadow red-over-white tackle twill letters, the sleeves and verso have been accented with Vorobiev's number “39” while “Vorobiev” is spelt out in matching style arched across the affixed matching nameplate. With the accompanying Rangers LOA starting that the jersey was issued but never worn, the jersey remains in beautiful condition while showing a couple of stains over the front hem and near the left cuff that are not necessarily associated with game-use (Vorobiev was never called up during the season before being traded to Edmonton on March 23rd). A Rangers team tag denoting the jersey as a “Set 1 – 1998-1999 Season” offering is sewn inside the reverse hem and a MeiGray COR will accompany the previously mentioned LOA.
