Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
Ranked number 1 on The Hockey News' list of the 100 Greatest Goaltenders in 2010, legendary netminder Terry Sawchuk was once quoted as stating, “The day they put me in net I had a good game. I've stayed there ever since.” While Terry may be gone, his legacy lives on, with the Winnipeg native and one-time shutout king still the measure of all great goaltenders. This stick was issued to the icon during the late-1960s while with Detroit, in either the early-to-mid-1960s, or in 1968-69. A Northland Pro with "Sawchuk" stamped and Terry's preferred no 12 lie, additional "Glass Fused" and "Olympic Sporting Goods" stamps grace each side of the upper shaft. The stick exhibits age and storage wear, with a few marks visible and toning. This is a choice specimen for literally any goaltender or stick collection.
