Playing in over 1000 games during his lengthy National Hockey League career, Thomas Vanek would suit up for a total of eight different NHL clubs over the time and also represent his homeland of Austria on numerous occasions as well. A product of the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the NCAA, up for grabs here is this photo-matched New York Islanders jersey worn by Vanek during his short stint with the club in 2013-14. A Reebok made garment with a single size “54” tag affixed the inner collar, a handwritten “3” is black marker ink is found at the top of the tag, possibly to denote the jersey as a 3rd set specimen. Featuring the emblems of the NHL shield and Reebok over the front and back necklines respectively, the front of the jersey has been styled with the familiar Islanders team crest that shows embroidered details throughout. Accented over the sleeves and verso with Vanek’s number “26” in dual layer tackle twill numerals, “Vanek” has been spelt out in matching style across the affixed matching nameplate. Exhibiting just light wear, a few stick marks and board burns are seen over both sleeves with a couple light board burns over the lower front as well along with light pilling on the interior. A team tag serial numbered “444861” is sewn inside the reverse hem and is accompanied by a matching Islanders LOA stating that Vanek wore the jersey during the 2013-14 season. Regarding the photo-match, the jersey is matched with Getty Image #476447261 (February 27th, 2014 vs Toronto) to the stick mark near the left cuff and the loose orange thread off the end of the left sleeve "2".
