The first NHL All-Star Game in Minnesota since 1972, the 2004 installment of the popular NHL showcase took place in St. Paul, with the Western Conference battling the Eastern in front of just under 20,000 jubilant fans. Despite a 6-4 victory for the Eastern Conference, Joe Sakic of the Western team garnered MVP honours, scoring a hat trick in the contest. Offered here, is signed Eastern Conference jersey worn by HOFer Mats Sundin during the game’s second period in which he registered two points. A CCM made offering with a single size “58” tag affixed to the inner collar, embroidered NHL shield and NHLPA crests are seen over the reverse hem. “Eastern” appears in felt letters placed diagonally across the chest, with an NHL shield crest residing above the left breast of the tie-neck garment while felt stars are seen over the hem on both the front and back. Sporting a Maple Leafs team crest over the left shoulder and the all-important 2004 All-Star Game event patch over the right, the sleeves and verso have been accented with Sundin’s number “13” in tri-layer tackle twill numerals. Worn for just a single period of play, the jersey remains in excellent condition and shows just a light stick mark near the left cuff and some stains near the right armpit on the reverse. Additionally, Sundin has added a black marker ink signature over the bottom of the “3” on the reverse that displays without issue. A MeiGray patch numbered “B11516” sits over the interior reverse hem and according to the company’s population report, the jersey is an “Eastern Conference All-Star – Worn During The 2nd Period – Retained By The NHLPA” specimen. A COA from In The Game, Inc. will accompany the piece.
