Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
A second-round draft choice of the Dallas Stars in 1998, John Erskine played in parts of four seasons with the Stars, and was traded to the New York Islanders for Finnish defenseman Janne Niinimaa. This Islanders jersey was worn by the Kingston native in his lone season with New York in 2005-06. A size “58” flag tag is affixed to the collar while embroidered Reebok and the NHL logos adorn the back neckline and rear hem respectively. The front is styled with the familiar Islanders crest while the sleeves and verso are accented with "44” in tri-colour tackle twill, with no string in the tie-neck collar. There is a burn streak to the left shoulder and a small slit just beneath the number, along with a couple other marks to the jersey. A MeiGray patch numbered "C06753" resides on the inside hem, and according to the company's population report, the jersey is a "Third Set 2" specimen. An LOA will accompany.
