Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Enjoying a lengthy career that witnessed 1,352 games over 19 seasons of professional hockey, Tom Kostopoulos would suit up for six different NHL teams over that time including Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, Montreal, Carolina, Calgary and New Jersey. This Kings jersey was worn by Kostopoulos in 2005-06. A label with “56” sizing is affixed to the collar, with Reebok and NHL crests over the reverse neckline and bottom hem respectively. Styled with a textured Kings’ team crest with embroidered detailing, “Los Angeles” appears over the front band in tackle twill, with “29” over the sleeves and verso in matching material. We should also note that there is evidence that the "ST" of "KOSTOPOULOS" on the reverse was originally arranged in the wrong order and then corrected. Regarding condition, the jersey shows light to moderate use, with marks to each sleeve including a large stick mark and some light staining near the left cuff, and red paint transfer along with a single team repair to the right sleeve. A MeiGray patch numbered “C04793” is affixed to the inside hem, and according to the company’s population report, the jersey is a “White Set 2" specimen. An LOA will accompany.
