The 6th overall draft choice in 2007, Sam Gagner would spend eight seasons in Alberta with the Oilers along with additional stops in Arizona, Philadelphia, Columbus, Vancouver and Detroit and Winnipeg. Hailing from his first tenure in Edmonton, up on the block here is this Oilers third jersey worn by Gagner during his sophomore season of 2008-09. Made by Reebok and displaying size “56” and Elite Sportswear tags that have been affixed to the inner collar, the front and reverse necklines have been accented with the logo patches of the NHL shield and Reebok respectively. Decorated over the front with a familiar Oilers team crest that features embroidered details throughout, the franchise’s 30th anniversary patch that was worn during the season is found over the right shoulder. Having had Gagner’s number “89” sewn to the sleeves and verso in tri-layer tackle twill numerals, “Gagner” is spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate. Worn for a total of seven (7) games, the jersey exhibits game-wear via stick marks and board burns over both sleeves with some of the burns on the right one resulting in unrepaired holes. With additional burns observed over both shoulders, blue coloured paint transfer marks are found near the left elbow along with small fabric snags throughout. Having had an Oilers team patch sewn to the interior of the jersey which also displays light pilling, a MeiGray tag numbered “F10522” is sewn opposite it and according to the company’s population report, the jersey is a “Third Set 1” specimen. Accompanied by a matching LOA, the jersey has been photo-matched with Getty Image #85043569 (December 16th, 2008 vs Chicago) to the board burns over the left shoulder and the stick mark through the "9" of the right sleeve.
