Maintaining its status as one of the most desirable pre-war sets among collectors, the 1933-34 World Wide Gum Ice Kings V357 set consisting of 72-cards is the subject of interest here in this lot that includes freshly graded examples of both Tiny Thompson’s and Nelson Stewart’s first-year cardboard as well as Harry Oliver’s card as well. Starting with the Thompson example, the card has earned a mid-grade mark of VG-EX 4 and falls at #57 on the checklist. Off-center bottom-to-top with unform fairly light toning over both sides, the card remains clean except for a small spot on the back near the left edge and shows with some light to be expected corner and edge wear. For the Stewart example, perhaps the most striking image out of the three cards due to the darkness of it, the card has been deemed worthy of a GOOD 2 mark with majority of the wear seen over the reverse in the form of staining and paper loss. The front of the card displays pleasing centering with some corner wear to note along with similar fairly uniform toning present over both sides. Lastly, is the card of 1967 HOF inductee Harry Oliver, who has garned the highest grade of the trio, showing an EX 5 over its label. An English only version that shows just a tad off-center right-to-left, the card displays light toning over sides that shows lighter on the reverse as well as light corner wear that is heaviest on the reverse. Overall, a fantastic threesome that we’re sure will be pleasing to our lucky winning bidder.
