The 1927-28 Stanley Cup semifinals was based on aggregate goals over a two game period, with the Montreal Maroons meeting the crosstown rival Canadiens. With both games played at the Forum, the Maroons would be the home team for the first match, which ended in a 2-2 tie, while the second contest that saw the Canadiens as the home club finished 1-0 with Clint Benedict earning the shutout. The Maroons would go on to lose to the New York Rangers in the final. This rare program was produced for Game 1 of the Maroons and Canadiens series, on March 31, 1928. Sporting the date on the cover and the 10 cent purchase price along with the image of a generic player, the 40-page program includes an ad for Bancroft tubular skates with Howie Morenz. The center line-up is intact, and it lists a number of legendary players including Nels Stewart, Red Dutton, George Hainsworth, Aurel Joliat, Howie Morenz and others. There is wear to the cover including a number of creases and a few small edge tears, with the majority of the interior pages showing no issues. The staples are also firmly attached, with minor wear to the spine.
