Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023

Hailing from a season in which the Toronto Blue Jays would stand alone atop the baseball world for the first time with their victory over the Atlanta Braves in the 1992 World Series, offered here is this collection of Blue Jays memorabilia, highlighted by a 1992 jersey attributed to have been worn by Rickey Trlicek. A Wilson size “44” garment tagged as such in the inner collar, Trlicek would only hurl 1.2 innings for the Jays over two games in April before spending the rest of the season with their AAA club down in Syracuse. Sporting a patched affixed to the back of the neck denoting the jersey as a set 2 example (the Jays wore set 2’s during the regular season and Set 1’s during the playoffs/World Series) the garment shows evidence of washing and is decorated with tackle twill team logos and wordmarks over the front with Trlicek's name and number “35” on the revese in matching style. Light wear is observed and staining/toning is exhibited near the hem on both the front and back. Also included with the collection is a framed photograph display that includes a mounted Sports Illustrated cover with Joe Carter after he hit his 1993 World Series winning walk-off home run that has been signed by him with a black ink signature that displays without issue. Alongside the SI cover is a full ticket from that memorable Game 6 of the 1993 Fall Classic that also displays well. Of note that when we dismounted the frame we were unable to see the back of the ticket and it is unknown as to if it is glued down or not. With everything housed in a simple black frame that shows light wear with full dimensions measuring roughly 14” x 11”, a JSA sticker numbered “AC82087” is affixed to the bottom corner of the cover signed by Carter and is accompanied by a matching COA. Rounding out the collection is a trio of programs including a commemorative 1992 World Series edition, a 1993 World Series stadium edition and a 1989 SkyDome Opening Celebration program with all three showing light-to-moderate handling wear, a swatch of SkyDome turf that was in place for both of the Blue Jays World Series wins and a replica Rogers Centre model (with removable roof!) that also shows well with some light wear and spots on the top.
