Making the most out of being the last selection at the 1996 NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators, Sami Salo went on to play 878 National Hockey League games over the course of 15 seasons split between Ottawa, Vancouver and Tampa Bay. Up for grabs here, is this photo-matched Vancouver Canucks jersey worn by Salo during the 2002-03 season. Made by CCM with a partially sewn over size “58” tag affixed to the inner collar, the logos of CCM and the NHL shield decorate the reverse neckline and hem respectively. Styled over the front with the Canucks “Orca” crest that features embroidered details, Salo’s number “6” has been sewn over the sleeves and verso in tri-layer tackle twill numerals with “Salo” spelt out across the affixed matching nameplate in single layer navy twill letters. Exhibiting good game-wear, numerous board burns are observed over each sleeve and both shoulders with some resulting in unrepaired holes. Additional wear is found via light stick marks that are found throughout the body and both sleeves. A MeiGray tag numbered “A03605” is sewn inside the rear hem and according to the company’s population report, the jersey is a “White 1st Regular Season” offering while the fight strap has had "6 Salo" penned to it in black marker that has mostly faded away with a large marker vertical bar at the left of the ''6'' also showing. A matching MeiGray LOA will accompany.
Regarding the aforementioned photo-match, the jersey is matched with Getty Image #1707816 (November 16th, 2002 vs New York) to the board burns seen over the left shoulder.
