Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/1/2024
Marking the first time that Topps released their entire yearly baseball release in its entirety as compared to several series throughout the season as a way to prevent late season competition with their football set, the 1974 Topps baseball release held consistent at 660 cards, the same amount found in the 1973 set before it. Up for grabs here and hailing from the year the Oakland A’s won their third straight World Series crown, is this collection of cards from Topps' 1974 baseball release that totals out to over 500+ offerings. Found to be in the overall condition range of EXMT to NM while void of any offerings of Nolan Ryan or Dave Winfield, the group does include notable names including 1-Aaron (EX to EX-MT - bottom right corner ding), 50-Carew (EX-MT to NM - 70-30 centering), 252-Parker RC (EX-MT to NM), 283-Schmidt (VG-EX to EX - left border wear and top right corner ding), 300-Rose (EX-MT to NM) and 332-Aaron AS (EX-MT to NM x2 and VG-EX to EX x1). Also including many doubles, triples, quadruples etc, the other star players that are found within the collection are in a condition that is consistent with the rest of the group. Additionally, also included with the group is approximately one hundred (100) other Topps baseball cards from 1971, 1973 and 1975 that are largely in the same condition as the 1974's listed above. Among those notables, the 1971 offerings include an EX to EX-MT copy of 100-Rose that has slight corner wear while the 1973 cards include a copy of 1-All-Time Home Run Leaders (Ruth, Aaron and Mays) that shows a small crease at the left border. A fun trip down memory lane with the boys of summer from yesteryear, don’t let this classic collection featuring many important names pass you and your all-import collection by!
