The original owner of the Boston Celtics, Walter A. Brown also help found the Basketball Association of America in 1946. For his dedication to the sport, the NBA championship trophy was named after him after his death in 1964. Also instrumental in the growth of hockey in the US, Brown guided the USA to its first gold medal in the Ice Hockey World Championships in 1933, and served as the president of the International Ice Hockey Federation from 1954 to 1957. A member of the Hockey, Basketball and IIHF Halls of Fame, we offer a typed letter addressed to fellow HOFer Harry "Punch" Broadbent signed by Brown, along with two other letters. Consisting of three stapled pages, each page is on Record American Sunday Advertiser letterhead, with the top page dated Dec 6, 1963, with the content asking Broadbent to attend a sports dinner hosted by B'nai B'rith. Brown has signed at the base, with the signature ink a bit faded. The following two pages are also addressed to Broadbent, with each signed by the sports editor for the Record American Sunday Advertiser (there are also handwritten notations on the third sheet). Each page shows wear including edge spotting and toning, with some rusting and folds to the stapled area. Originating from the Harry "Punch" Broadbent collection, an LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
