Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024

The 14th season of National Hockey League play for the franchise that was originally founded as the Kansas City Scouts and 6th season since they relocated from Colorado prior to the 1982–83 campaign, the 1987-88 season saw the New Jersey Devils experience their first trip to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, after locking in their spot in a dramatic comeback over the Chicago Black Hawks on the final day of the regular season to clinch the final spot in the Patrick Division. Riding the momentum of the moment into a surprisingly deep playoff run, ousting the New York Islanders in six games in the Division Semifinals and the Washington Capitals in seven games in the Division Finals, the Devils would take the Boston Bruins the distance in the 1988 Wales Conference Final before dropping the seventh game in Beantown. Offered here, we present this Patrick Division Playoff Champions ring that was presented to Max McNab. Measuring out to a size 10 1/2 and weighting approximately 38 grams, diamonds making up a Devils logo have been placed over a green coloured stone on the tableau with "New Jersey Devils" spelt out around it. Engraved on the inner band of the ring with "LGB 14K", A Devils logo and "McNab" are found over the right shank of the ring while the left side shows "1988" along with the NHL shield logo, a notation reading "Patrick Division Playoff Champions" and the upper portion of the Stanley Cup near the bottom. Regarding condition, the ring exhibits just light wear via some light scratches, which are seen in their heaviest form over the band while the rest of the ring displays in good shape and free of any obtrusive/major flaws such as dings and cuts that are worth pointing out for accuracy. Hailing from McNab's personal collection, a McNab Family LOA will accompany the piece.
