This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
The most storied franchise in all of baseball and perhaps the most recognizable sports logo in the world, the New York Yankees, loved by many and hated by many more, have won a total of 27 World Series crowns in their over century long history. Proudly offered here, is this collection of five (5) pieces of Yankees signed and unsigned memorabilia. Hailing from the original “House That Ruth Built” is a seat back that was in place at Yankee Stadium from 1976 to 2008. Measuring 15” x 19” and in solid Bronx blue, a "17" number plate has been affixed near the top, with an impression from American Seating on the lower reverse. Showing moderate wear from use with scratches and marks, along with some fading to the blue on the upper front from those long afternoons in the hot New York sun, the back of the piece has had a sticker with section and row information affixed with the piece accompanied by a Steiner COA. Next, we have a pair of locker room nameplates for Andy Pettitte and Andy Phillips with Pettitte’s example being the one that sat above his stall during the final game at the original Stadium on September 21st, 2008. At 2” x 12”, each nameplate has the player’s name and number in white, with an image of Yankee Stadium on the Pettitte example. Both show some surface wear from handling, with clear tape over the reverse of the Pettitte nameplate. Holograms have been affixed to each from both Steiner and the MLB, with matching LOAs to accompany from the former. Continuing on, we have a copy of Reggie Jackson’s book “Becoming Mr. October” that has been signed by the man himself inside the cover with a fine blue ink signature that displays without issue and is accompanied by a Sportauthentix COA. Lastly, we have a 16” x 20” photograph of former Yankees skipper, Joe Torre, and Rudy Giuliani at a rally in the days following the September 11th attacks on the United States. Featuring the pair in matching firefighter helmets with New York Yankee emblems, with Torre clutching a small American flag, the piece is framed to full dimensions of 22 ½” x 26 ½”, both have signed across the body of Torre, with the silver marker signatures standing out extremely well against the dark background. Hand-numbered 81/1911 in the bottom left, a hologram from Steiner has been affixed to the bottom right, and a matching COA will accompany. We should note that the frame itself does exhibit a number of scratches and marks, most notably on the upper left and right-hand sides.
