Attractive offerings from Topps’ 1961 and 1965 releases are featured here and up for grabs in complete assembly form. Both featuring 132-card checklists, the 1961 set sports an average grade of EX/EX-MT with some exceptions both better and worse with the worse off specimens including a few with elastic marks and a few with red stains on the borders that doesn’t show on the fronts. Led by rookie cards of 1-Bailey, 4-Flemming, 62-Dixon and 85-Stewart in the range of EX-MT, an additional first year card of 79-Lancaster is found in the vicinity of EX-MT/NM. Additional keys include those of 20-Kapp (EX), 33-Coffey (EX-MT/NM), 39-Parker (EX), 47-Faloney (G/VG), 56-Patterson (EX/EX-MT – Miscut), 76-Jackson (EX-MT/NM) and 109-Shatto (EX-MT). The checklist, card #102 remains unmarked and in the range of EX-MT condition.
For the 1965 ensemble, far more colourful than the 61’s, the group is in a consistent EX/EX-MT scope. Featuring the rookie card of George Reed at #98 on the checklist in the condition range of EX-MT, others that join Reed’s first year specimen in the same condition vicinity include 33-Coffey, 51-Henley, 59-Zuger and 110-Parker. Other notable cards include 12-Kapp (EX), 55-Mosca (EX), 67-Faloney (EX-MT/NM) and 96-Lancaster (VG-EX/EX). The checklist cards, #60 and #132, are in VG and EX-MT condition ranges respectively with the first of the two having been marked. Of note, card #2 of Tom Brown has been signed in ballpoint pen.
