Serving as vice president under Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman implemented the successful Marshall Plan to rebuild the economy of Western Europe after the war, he also helped to establish NATO. Truman would serve as the 33rd President of the United States, in office from April 12, 1945 to January 20, 1953. We have a calling card signed by the Lamar native, accompanied by a second card signed by Mrs. Truman. At approx 2 ½” x 4”, both cards have “The White House Washington” over the upper right, with the Truman card signed in black ink, with a personalization and “Best Wishes”. The card signed by Bess Truman contains just her dark ink signature. The original envelope is also included, with a JSA LOA accompanying for both signed cards.
With no issues for either scripting, the Truman card exhibits some toning and mild discolouration in spots, with the original envelope heavily toned. The same name is written on the envelope that Truman personalized his autograph to, with the envelope scripting appearing to also be in Truman’s hand. Passing away on Boxing Day in 1972, Truman was 88.
