An excellent opportunity for puck enthusiasts to add some vintage rubber to their collections, up for grabs here is this early-to-mid 1970s puck collection consisting of both Canadian junior hockey and minor league offerings. Found in the form of both Viceroy Canadian made “V2” and Czechoslovakian made “CZ2” slugs, those gracing the Viceroy’s include examples of the Niagara Falls Flyers (Southern Ontario Jr. “A” Hockey League – 1972-76 – CAHA reverse), London Knights (x2 – 1970-72 – blank reverses) and the Lexington Lizards (Unknown league – Early-To-Mid 1970s – blank reverse). The Niagara Falls examples shows light wear to both faces and the side with the side dirty and a hole drilled into the bottom and the face with the logo appearing to have been melted at some point due to “bubbling”. Additionally, light chipping is seen on the edges. The London examples both show light surface wear (heavier on one) over both sides with one of them having had the “L” in London scratched out. One of the pucks has a small amount of residue stuck on the logo side and a dent on the reverse while the other shows a couple of gouges and cuts on its side.
For the Czech made “CZ2” offerings, the lone professional biscuit comes in the form of a 1970-73 Jersey Devils EHL puck that shows light surface wear to the logo and numerous large gouges and cuts with pieces missing, heaviest on the reverse side. The rest are all Canadian junior hockey pucks from teams such as the St. Catharines Black Hawks (OHA Jr. “A” – 1970-72 – blank reverse – light surface wear and logo scuffing with a paint mark on the reverse side edge), St. Catharines Falcons (Golden Horseshoe Jr. Hockey League – 1970-78 – blank reverse – light surface wear with some residue caked on side – multiple small cuts on the edges of both faces – drilled hole in bottom), Welland Sabres (Southern Ontario Jr. “A” Hockey League – 1970-75 – Bauer logo reverse – light surface wear and excellent logos), Hamilton Mountain Bees (Golden Horseshoe Jr. Hockey League – 1970-75 – blank reverse – surface wear and multiple large gouges on the reverse side along with multiple small cuts – tape residue on reverse and dirt on side) and the Hespeler Shamrocks (Central Jr. “B” Hockey League – 1970-78 – blank reverse – surface wear over both sides, wear to logo, tape residue on reverse and multiple small cuts/gouges). A great grouping of seldom seen puck offerings, don’t miss out!
