Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
Featuring an attractive design (at least in this writers eyes) as well as the names of players who had once dominated the era of the Original Six and some of those that would become the star power of the upcoming decade, O-Pee-Chee’s 1969-70 assembly continues to be popular in the hobby and is found in near complete form here. Missing just the two checklist cards, #24 and #31 in the group of 231, the congregation is led by the rookie cards of Serge Savard and Tony Esposito, displaying in the condition range of Poor or worse and VG to VG-EX respectively. An inconsistent collection with grades ranging from Poor up to VG-EX, notable cards at the top of the condition scale include those of 209-Orr (Norris Trophy) and 215-Howe (All-Star) in the vicinity of VG-EX to EX while examples in the VG-EX scope include 30-P. Esposito and 212-Orr All-Star. Featuring a majority of the cards in the range of VG such as 10-Beliveau, 24-Orr (stamp residue on the back), 70-Hull (small bottom right corner crease), 180-Plante (top left corner crease), 187-Bower and 193-Howe Mr. Hockey Special. Other cards worth mentioning include 61-Howe (G to VG – corner wear), 182-Horton (FR to G – corner crease and off-centre), and 189-Sawchuk (EX – off-center top-to-bottom).
