Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
Originally selected 12th overall by the Montreal Canadiens at the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Ryan McDonagh would never suit up for the Canadiens, instead being traded to a different red, white and blue franchise in the New York Rangers where he would play for eight years and serve as captain for three and a half seasons. Offered here, is this photo-matched Rangers jersey worn by McDonagh during the 2016-17 season. Made by Reebok, a size “58” tag is affixed to the inner collar below a Rangers team inventory barcode while a Steiner hologram sits on top of the tag. Accented over the front and reverse necklines with crests of the NHL shield and Reebok wordmark, the front is decorated with “Rangers” going diagonally down the chest of the tie-neck garment in drop-shadow blue-over-red tackle twill letters while the distinguished captain’s “C” sits over the left breast in matching style. Featuring the Rangers 90th anniversary patch and NHL Centennial crest over the right shoulder and arm respectively, the sleeves and verso of the jersey have had McDonagh’s number “27” sewn to them in matching drop-shadow numerals with “McDonagh” spelt out in matching style arched across the affixed matching nameplate. A “Set 2” specimen as noted by the identifiers screened to the fight strap on the interior, the jersey exhibits wear via stick marks over the front and left sleeve while red and blue board paint transfer marks and small board burns are observed over both sleeves as well. Regarding the photo-match, the jersey is matched with Getty Image #633725146 (January 22nd, 2017 vs Detroit) to the stick marks present over the front and left sleeve. An LOA from Steiner will accompany.
