Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
The long-time captain of the powerful Soviet Union national team, Viacheslav Fetisov has won over a dozen gold medals representing his nation internationally. The Moscow native is also well remembered for his time in the NHL, especially with Detroit, winning back-to-back Stanley Cups in 1997 and 1998. We have a signed stick used by Fetisov during his final NHL season in 1997-98 when the Red Wings were crowned Stanley Cup champions. An Easton Ultra Lite model with inserted wooden Christian blade, the original white tape remains over the blade and handle. Heavy game-use is shown, with considerable wear to the taped section of blade including the underside along with wear to the handle and a few marks to the shaft (the shaft shows lighter use, with the blade likely used longer). Fetisov has added a black marker signature to the back side blade, along with a second signature to the lower shaft.
