Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
One of the best womens hockey players in the history of the game, Angela Ruggiero would sport the red, white and blue of Team USA at four Winter Olympic Games, winning gold in the inaugural women’s hockey tournament in 1998 and medaling in the three others as well. Having won numerous other international tournaments and cementing her legacy in the game, Ruggiero was inducted into the HHOF in 2015, the fourth woman to receive the honour. Offered here, is this collection of Angela Ruggiero memorabilia including a team-signed game-used stick from the 2006 Winter Olympics, her signed 2015 HHOF Legends Classic game-worn jersey and a pair of signed Team USA gloves. For the stick, a Nike Bauer Vapor model with American flag decals over each side and “Ruggiero” factory graphics over the upper shaft, Ruggiero’s original white tape job remains in place over the shaved handle and blade, with her number “4” penned to the knob in black ink. Exhibiting heavy game-use and riddled with marks/abrassions throughout, the stick has been signed by all members of the 2006 Olympic team in gold ink on the forehand side. Those that have signed include; Dunn-Luoma, Ruggiero, Hagerman, Kristen King, Kennedy, Engstrom, Katie King, Cahow, Parsons, Stephens, Darwitz, Wendell, Wall, Insalaco, Kauth, Keady and Chu. Most of the autographs display well but some of the ones penned on the bottom half show some wear. The jersey, made by CCM and tagged a size “XXL” over the inner collar, sports a vinyl sewn-on Team Bure world crest over the front with “world” down each sleeve, printed into the fabric. Ruggiero’s number is found over the reverse in dual layer tackle twill with “Ruggiero” on single layer white twill letters spelt out across the affixed matching nameplate. Worn in the second period and showing no obvious signs of wear, the jersey remains in good condition with a stain at the collar. Ruggiero has signed the reverse number with a black ink signature that shows some light bleeding with an “HHOF ’15” annotation added underneath. Lastly, we have a pair of Team USA gloves that have also been signed by the American legend. Made by Easton and in the USA’s red, white and blue colourway, the gloves appear never used and Angela has signed over the left one with a gold ink signature that shows without issue.
