Selected 102nd overall by the Nashville Predators in 2009, Mattias Ekholm has played his entire NHL career with the Preds and helped them to a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2017. More of a stay-at-home defenseman than an offensive one, nevertheless Ekholm would use this particular puck to score his 1st goal of the shortened 2020-21 season and 46th of his career. Shot into the net at 1:12 of the 2nd period with assists being provided by Dante Fabro and Filip Forsberg, the goal would tie the February 27th contest with the Columbus Blue Jackets up at 1 a piece until Ekholm would score again later in the period for his second of the game and give Nashville a 2-1 lead that would end up being the final score. Additionally, the goal this puck was registered with would serve as the 200th point of Ekholm’s NHL career. The “Official Game Puck” sports a Predators logo on the obverse with the NHL shield featured on the opposite face while tape has been added along the side, displaying handwritten notations reading “NASH #1 2/27/21”. The biscuit light surface wear while a handful of scuffs/abrasions are present over each side as well. A MeiGray hologram numbered “MGA35226” is affixed to the reverse and is accompanied by a matching COA listing all the particulars.
