The rookie cards of two well-known coaches and five Hall of Fame players have always contributed to the popularity of O-Pee-Chee’s 1974-75 issue, for the first time a big 396-card effort. Featuring a mix of conditions, most of the cards fall in the VG-EX/EX range with some examples also in the lower-grade vicinity of G and VG as well as higher-grade range of EX-MT. Starting with the rookie cards, those of Scotty Bowman and Bob Gainey range around EX/EX-MT with Don Cherry and Denis Potvin around VG, McDonald (crease) and Salming (corners/edges and surface issues) in the vicinity of VG and lastly Steve Shutt at G/VG with creases, corner and surface problems. Bobby Orr cards #100 and #130 (all-star) are in the VG-EX to EX range with the regular release off-center left-to-right. Other notable cards include #40-Sittler (G/VG), #72-Dionne (VG – Crease), #155-Dryden (VG-EX/EX), #232-Lafleur (VG-EX/EX), #266-Clarke (G – creasing) and #280-Robinson (VG-EX/EX). Cards with noticeable creases totalling 34 are present as well. Team photo/checklist cards and the three checklists are not marked, with the latter including #s 54 (EX/EX-MT (OC)), 162 (VG-EX/EX) and 311 (G/VG – crease and miscut top to bottom). Overall, the set is still sure to be an excellent addition to your collection sure to bring back memories of days gone by.
