The boys of summer in Toronto well before the Blue Jays were a thing, the Toronto Maple Leafs, were an International League institution from 1896 to 1967, winning 10 league titles throughout their history. Offered here, is this Toronto Maple Leafs Toronto Ferry Co. pass for the 1923 season. Owned by the Toronto Ferry Co., the company offered transportation from the mainland to Hanlan’s Point Stadium on the Toronto Islands and operated ferries to and from the ballpark from the mainland and vice versa with this year long pass for transportation use during the 1923 campaign.
Measuring 1 ½” x 1 ½” and likely made of brass, the one side displays the Maple Leafs team crest with “Toronto Baseball Club” above and “Season 1923” below. On the opposite side, the coin shows “Toronto Ferry Co.” along the top edge and the same “Season 1923” along the bottom while “Pass Two 2” and the number “8” are found in the middle as well as the embossed signature of Lawrence Solman, the owner of the ballclub. Remaining in excellent condition with just light handling wear exhibited, light scratches are observed over the side and both faces as well.
