Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
Members of the NHL Hamilton Tigers and the 1924 Olympic champion Toronto Granites star in this offering of nifty little cards which originally came (one-a-package) with a Dominion Chocolate bar. Kids/consumers could snip and save the little tabs/coupons at the bottom of the cards and send them in for a variety of prizes (pucks, hockey sticks, footballs, dolls, skates, bats, etc.). Found in a complete 120-card assembly with all their tabs still attached, the group offered here is led by a seven (7) card collection of freshly graded PSA offerings that includes the likes of HOFers George Vezina (VG 3 -MC), Aurel Joliat (VG 3) and Lionel Conacher (RC – GOOD 2 – MC), other slabbed cards include the likes of HOFers Newsy Lalonde (EX 5), Shorty Green (VG-EX 4), Hooley Smith (VG-EX 4) and Harry Watson (PR 1) while the last graded cards comes via an SGC VG/EX+ 4.5 of HHOFer Carl Voss, pictured as a member of the Queens University football team. For the rest of the set, and starting with the hockey examples, cards found to be in the grade range of EX to EX-MT total two (2) and feature the specimens of Dunc Munro and North Bay Hockey Team while those around the scope of EX include the cards of Peterborough Hockey Team and M. Rutherford. Continuing on, VG-EX to EX cards feature Hughie J. Fox and Cecil Browne, while the VG to VG-EX range examples are comprised of those picturing 13-World’s Hockey Champions, 49-Owen Sound OHA Juniors, 55-Collett, 82-Forbes, 86-Langtry, 89-Coutu, 106-Porter, 113-Sommerville and 117-Cleghorn.
