A hard-hitting defenceman that patrolled the blueline of the Toronto Maple Leafs for 20 years and contributed to four Stanley Cup championships during Toronto’s dynasty years of the 1960s, the name Tim Horton remains synonymous for Canadians on a daily basis through its numerous food and drink offerings. Offered here, is this collection of Tim Horton hockey cards/coins totaling twenty (20). Hailing from the 1950s to the 1970s and including examples from Parkhurst, O-Pee-Chee, Topps and other brands of the era, the group is led by Tim’s 1952-53 and 1953-54 rookie and 2nd year cards from Parkhurst that are found in the condition range of FR to G and VG (rounded corners) respectively with the important first year cardboard showing multiple creases. The rest of the Parkhurst grouping included an EX-MT range copy of Horton’s 1962-63 release as well as EX to EX-MT vicinity cards from 1958-59, 1959-60 and 1963-64 (#76). Other cards include EX scope cards from 1957-58 and 1960-61 and a VG-EX range copy of card #16 from the previously mentioned 1963-64 release. Topps cards include those from 1964-65 and 1966-67, both in the vicinity of VG while Horton’s 1965-66 release from the American based company falls a bit better at EX. O-Pee-Chee offerings are led by an EX-MT to NM example of Tim’s 1971-72 card and are followed up by VG-EX proximity cards hailing from 1969-70, 1972-73 and 1973-74 with lastly a 1970-71 card falling in the range of VG. Finishing up the collection in the category of food issues, a 1961-62 York issue of Horton with the yellow back is found in the vicinity of EX-MT while Shirriff coins from 1961-62 and 1968-69 respectively are found as being in the conditions of EX and EX-MT to NM with the oldest of the pair showing light fading. Also included but not accounted for in the title is a small group of seven (7) new age cards of Horton that are all in the condition range of EX-MT to NM or better with some reprint examples of original cards listed above included.
