A six-time Stanley Cup champion, “The Big M” Frank Mahovlich would play 18 years in the National Hockey League along with four in the WHA. Great for a Mahovlich collector, someone looking to add some vintage cards to their collection or a dealer looking for inventory, up for grabs here is this collection of Frank Mahovlich cards/coins totaling thirty-six (36) Hailing from the 1950s to the 1970s and including examples from Parkhurst, O-Pee-Chee, Topps and other brands of the era, the group is led by Frank’s 1957-58 rookie card from Parkhurst in the VG to VG-EX condition range that shows light corner wear and edge wear along with a surface defect over Frank’s right knee. Void of his 1958-59 2nd year card, all of Frank’s Parkie’s releases from 1959-60 to 1963-64 are accounted for, led by a EX to EX-MT range copy of his 1960-61 card while the 1959-60 offerings total two (2), found in VG-EX and EX condition scopes respectively. The rest of the Parkhurst cards displaying Mahovlich’s image all fall into the range of VG to EX with light corner wear being the commonly seen flaw with a couple showing a light crease as well (1962-63 #18 and #4). For the Topps releases, three years are represented including 1964-65, 1965-66 and 1967-68 with the middle of the the best of the trio in EX to EX-MT vicinity with a slight bit of wear to the bottom left while the other two are around the scope of VG (1964-65 – rough edges) and EX (1967-68 – light surface stain) respectively. Finishing up the noteables part of the collection in the category of food issues, Frank’s 1961-62 York card with a yellow back is present and in the range of VG-EX condition with a surface stain being observed while Shirriff coins from 1961-62 and 1962-63 (#’s 3 and 53) are included, with two of three (1961-62 and 1962-63 #53) in the range of VG and the other (1962-63 #3) around the scope of EX to EX-MT. Other cards dating from throughout the 1970s are accounted for showing Mahovlich as a member of the Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings as well as from WHA releases by O-Pee-Chee showing him as a member of the Toronto Toros and Birmingham Bulls. For modern cards of the 1981 HOFer, nine (9) are included, led by a 1994 Parkhurst Missing Link card that has been signed over the front by Mahovlich with a black ink signature that displays without issue and is serial numbered “049/956” on the reverse.
