Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
Symbolized by the image of a joyous Maurice Richard jumping into the arms of his linemate, Elmer Lach, who had just scored at 1:22 of the overtime period to win game 5 of the 1953 Stanley Cup Finals for the Montreal Canadiens, giving Montreal their first Stanley Cup in seven years. Hailing from the Cup clinching game 5, won by the Habs 1-0, we offer this Montreal Forum program from the 1953 Stanley Cup Finals. Measuring roughly 8” x 11”, the cover displays “Forum Sports Magazine” along with the original purchase price of .25 cents with the interior complete, having all 40 pages accounted for. The program is signed over the inside by seven (7) members of Les Canadiens including HOFers Dick Irvin, Doug Harvey, Toe Blake, Frank Selke, Dickie Moore and Tom Johnson all signing the Habs line-up sheet as well as Billy Reay. All shave signed in pen with the autographs displaying without issue. Remaining in good condition, toning to the covers and interior pages is observed as well as a printer’s fold defect seen starting with the Canadiens line-up. The date of the game is handwritten on the first page in pencil and toning is exhibited to both covers, with the front showing a tiny tear along the bottom edge. The spine shows light wear with light rusting to the staples also seen.
