Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Two of the more notable franchises in the National Hockey League, with individual histories dating back to the 1920s and 1970s respectively, the New York Rangers and Buffalo Sabres have combined to appear in the Stanley Cup Finals a total of thirteen (13) times. Offered here, we present this collection of practice jerseys featuring examples of both the Rangers and Sabres. Starting with the Rangers examples, both are made by Reebok and date from the era of the mid-to-late-2000s. Both red in colour and featuring their alternate "lady liberty" logo over the front in tackle twill with embroidered and textured details throughout, the jerseys both featuring size tagging affixed to their inner collar and front hem and are designated as being size "58" and "58+" specimens respectively. Accented over the reverse neckline and left collar bone of both with Reebok logo patches, each jersey features pro on-ice elements including reinforced fight straps and elbows on their interiors. Of note, a MeiGray tag numbered "F02010" is sewn inside the reverse hem of the one jersey, with the company's population report stating that it was worn by Nikolai Zherdev. Additionally, Zherdev's number "13" is penned to the size tag in the inner collar as well. Both remain in excellent condition with no obvious signs of wear though it is worth noting that the white coloured sides have yellowed over time.
For the Sabres jersey, a CCM example in white with size "54" and Maska labels affixed to the inner collar, a CCM logo has been embroidered into the reverse hem while the front is decorated with both Sabres and CCM logos in layered tackle twill. Once again featuring pro on-ice style elements in the form of a fight strap and reinforced elbows, the garment shows considerable use via stick marks, unrepaired holes/cuts, coloured board paint transfers, board burns, pilling on the interior and exterior and staining around the collar and front hem. Additionally, a yellow coloured vinyl number "8" is observed over the reverse.
