Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2024
With the first table top hockey game invented by Donald H. Munro Sr. in Toronto in 1932, Munro Games produced numerous examples throughout the intervening decades, including this attractive “Canadian Hockey” game produced in the 1960s that was endorsed by "The Golden Jet", Bobby Hull. Measuring approximately 21" x 35" and constructed of metal and wood, the game sports attractive Bobby Hull graphics over the ends and sides with all the rods present and accounted for at each end as well while being able to move freely throughout the playing surface as well. With the fold up red plastic feet still found over both sides and free from any cracks or breaks, the game presents the classic matchup of Montreal vs Toronto and comes with complete sets of players for both teams as well as the plastic nets (both of which show some cracks to them) and a pair of pucks while the goal lights behind each net are also still accounted for. In overall good condition throughout with light wear to the frame as well as the playing surface which has been signed by Hull at centre ice with a blue marker ink signature that displays well despite some light fading from age, Hull has also added an inscription reading "HOF 1983" underneath his autograph in matching blue marker. Coming housed in its original box that shows expected wear and tear from handling and age throughout, the game originates from Hull's personal collection and comes with a family LOA.
