Exhibiting the club’s dominance as first-place finishers with five members selected to the NHL All-Star First Team along with Normie Smith capturing the Vezina Trophy and Marty Barry the Lady Byng, the Detroit Red Wings met the Canadian Division’s first-place finisher Montreal Canadiens in the first 1937 Stanley Cup Semi-Final. Going the distance at five games with the first two played in Motor City at the Olympia and the last three at the Montreal Forum, the Red Wings would outlast Les Canadiens, winning the decisive game five 2-1 in triple overtime, the Wings would eventually go on to win the Stanley Cup 14 days later. Offered here, we have a 1937 Stanley Cup Semi-Finals program produced for one of the two games at Detroit Olympia, on either March 23rd (Game 1) or March 25th (Game 2). Featuring boss Jack Adams on the cover along with the Stanley Cup and original 25 cent cover price, the 16-page program sports the original line-up and rosters, though separated from the staples, with photos of each Red Wings player along with Wilfred Cude and Aurel Joliat of the Canadiens. Measuring 8 ¼” x 12, the booklet shows heavy creasing over the front and reverse covers with surface wear and light foxing also exhibited while the spine shows rust free staples plus tearing and fuzziness to the edges.
