Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023

With a franchise history that can be traced back to 1960, the Cleveland Lumberjacks played nine seasons in the IHL from 1992 to 2001, making the playoffs in seven of those years and serving as an affiliate for the Pittsburgh Penguins for most of their franchise history. Offered here, is this lot of two (2) 1990’s Cleveland Lumberjacks game-worn jerseys as well as a practice jersey. All three are made by Bauer with “Prowear” labels and size tags ranging from 54 to 58 affixed to the inner collar. Both game-worn jerseys also have had Bauer and IHL logos stiched/embroidered into the reverse hems. The first jersey, hailing from the 1994-95 season, was worn by Larry Depalma and is styled after Pittsburgh’s jerseys of the era with “Cleveland” going diagonally across the chest in drop shadow tackle twill letters while the sleeves and verso have been accented with “17” in yellow-over-white numerals. Evidence of the former nameplate and individual letters can be made out across the top of the back while the IHL’s 50th Anniversary patch is affixed over the right shoulder. Good game-wear is exhibited through numerous stick marks and board burns over the front, reverse and sleeves while unrepaired holes are seen over the left sleeve as well. The second jersey, from the mid-to-late-1990s features a beautiful textured and partially embroidered Lumberjacks crest over the front with matching alternate logo crests over the shoulders while the sleeves and verso have had the number “7” sewn to them in white-over-teal twill numerals. Void of any evidence of a nameplate ever being applied to the upper back, the jersey does show good game wear through numerous stick marks to the sleeves and lower front while a good amount of board burns and board paint transfers are observed over the sleeves as well. Additionally, the left breast of the jersey has had a large Velcro patch sewn over it which has caused extensive pilling to the area over the years. The practice jersey, sporting the same gorgeous textured and partially embroidered Lumberjacks crest over the front also has the Bauer logo patch over the left side with a wordmark logo bar affixed to the lower reverse. Showing good wear throughout via stick marks and board buns to the sleeves and lower front, an unrepaired cut is also found at the right hip.
