Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
Born in the historic town of Kingston, Ontario just after the turn of the century, Charles Hay excelled at hockey and rugby in his youth, which included backstopping the University of Saskatchewan Huskies to an Allan Cup final in 1921. Hay later served as an executive with Hockey Canada and was enshrined in the Hall of Fame as a builder in 1974. Originating from a Hay family estate sale, this lot includes a quartet of period team photos during Hay's time in Saskatoon and with the University of Saskatchewan. We have his 1920 Saskatoon Collegiate hockey team photo (framed, total dimensions 8" x 10"), his 1920-21 Saskatoon Junior hockey team photo (11" x 14", this appears to be a copy from the period of the original cabinet photo), his U of Saskatchewan hockey team composite photo where he served as captain (framed, total dimensions 10 1/2" x 12 1/2"), and his 1922 U of Saskatchewan rugby team photo where he again served as captain (framed, total dimensions 10" x 14"). The photos all appear to be in excellent condition with no issues visible. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
