Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
Joining the honoured members of the Hockey Hall of Fame as a builder in 2015, Bill Hay spent eight seasons with the Chicago Black Hawks in the 1960s before later serving as the CEO of the Calgary Flames. Earning the Calder Memorial in 1960 as the NHL's top rookie, Hay was also a two-time All-Star and a member of the Black Hawk's 1961 Stanley Cup championship. Originally purchased directly from a Hay family estate sale, we have an original painting of the Lumsden, Saskatchewan native. At approx 18 1/2" x 23 1/2", Hay is wonderfully depicted including his Black Hawks jersey, with the unique oil painting signed by artist Ed Supay. Set in a wooden frame to full dimensions of 23" x 28", there is some toning to the painting and a slight warp to the artist's board, with just light and honest wear to the frame. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
