Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024

One of Motor City’s all-time greatest, Steve Yzerman spent his entire career with the Detroit Red Wings, registering over 1,700 points including almost 700 goals and helping lead the Red Wings to three Stanley Cup Championships. Dating back to circa 1995 when the Red Wings were about to enter their most dominate era that included numerous Stanley Cup championships, offered here is this pair of skates worn by Yzerman. Graf Supra 703 Top Light models with ICM blade holders riveted to the bottom, the black coloured boots with gold text accents and Graf's iconic lime green logo on each side have been reinforced on both the outside and inside of each boot. Retaining one of the original insoles and measuring out to a size "8", with this confirmed on the inside of each boot, both skates show just light use via scuffs to the boots, puck marks on the blade holders and marks, scuffs and cuts to the toe caps. Displaying faded but legible handwritten notations reading "19 DRW" and "1-R-1" in black marker ink on the underside of each skate, matching in both penmanship and style as to what is seen on other pairs of Red Wings skates that we have handled in the past, it is also worth pointing out that the leather of the boots has cracked in areas from drying out and that the laces are no longer fed through the eyelets. Seen in photos on Getty Images from a game on February 20th, 1995 against the Toronto Maple Leafs wearing this model of skates with these blade holders, not observed is the reinforcements on the side. Because of this we are not calling this pair "game-worn" or attributing them to any such event, instead labeling them simply as worn instead.
