Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022

Stolen by the Calgary Flames with the 117th pick of the 1984 NHL Draft, we offer this stick used by Brett Hull, hailing from his rookie season of 1987-88. A Sher-Wood PMP 7000 model, "Hull B. 16" is stamped over the upper shaft with a date stamp of “4 DEC 1987” seen on the shaft’s backside. The stick retains its original tape job of white-over-black over the shaved handle and knob, while the blade has had its tape removed to facilitate a flowing bold black ink signature from Hull that appears without issue, with “Best Wishes” added to the shaft in similar style. Exhibiting light game-use, black marks are seen over blade and throughout the shaft. Remaining free from cracks or breaks, red paint transfer is seen on the upper shaft's backside as well.
The Calgary Flames gave a young Brett Hull a peek during the 1985-86 post-season calling him up for a pair of games. He saw action in five regular seasons games and four playoff tilts the following year but his official National Hockey League rookie season did not occur until he was a regular with the team in 1987-88, playing in 52 games with Calgary before moving on to St. Louis where saw action in an additional 23 regular-seasons and playoff matches.
