Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
The only player in the National Hockey League ever capable of competing on a point-per-point basis with Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux battled The Great One for league supremacy throughout the late-1980s, winning back-to-back Art Ross Trophy’s in 1988 and 1988 as well as the Hart Memorial Trophy in 1988 as well. Offered here, is this stick used by the Penguins superstar in the late-1980s. A preferred KOHO model, “Lemieux” has been stamped over the upper shaft, with a serial code reading “2219 3” stamped just beneath the partially intact lower striping accent. Retaining its original black tape job over the handle/knob and blade, the stick remains completely intact. Sporting great game-use, marks are seen to the blade tape with black marks also seen throughout the blade, heel and lower shaft with the shaft also exhibiting black marks top to bottom on all four sides.
