Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Enjoying five (5) seasons of play between the years of 1971 to 1979 as a member of either the West Coast Junior Hockey League or Pacific Junior A Hockey League, the Surrey Stampeders finished as the PJHL's runner-up in both 1975 and 1977. Offered here, we present this early-to-mid 1970s Surrey Stampeders game-worn jersey. Sporting a Wilson tag affixed to the inner collar that displays a handwritten size “44” designation. An additional handwritten notation in black ink appearing to read “CBC VAN” is found penned to the collar. Decorated over the front with a Stampeders team crest that features partially embroidered details, the number “1” has been sewn to the sleeves and verso in dual layer red-over-white tackle twill numerals with evidence of the numbers having been changed or at the very least moved seen over both the sleeves and verso as well. Exhibiting good game-wear, runs to the durene fabric are seen throughout the piece while a puck mark is observed near the lower front and good pilling is found on the interior. Additional wear is present via a large fabric backed repair in the left armpit with an additional sew job and repair near the number on the reverse as well as a couple of stick mark/board burn type flaws to the sleeves and lower front hem.
