A four-time NHL all-star and 2011 Stanley Cup champion, winning the Conn Smythe Trophy as that year’s playoffs MVP, Boston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas answered the call for his country once again when he was named to Team USA for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver where he saw 12 minutes of third period action during the States’ 6-1 win over Finland in the semi-finals. Up for grabs here, is this Team USA jersey worn by Thomas on February 21, 2010 when he backed up Ryan Miller during the American’s 5-3 win over Canada in the preliminary round. Made by Nike, a swoosh logo and size “58” designation are screened-on inside the collar above an IIHF “Authentic Collection” label with a “G” tag also having been affixed underneath. The front of the tie-neck garment, modeled after the jerseys worn by the gold medal winning 1960 squad, is decorated with “USA” in drop shadow blue-over-red letters diagonally down the chest with the USA shield crest affixed over the left breast and the Nike Swoosh over the right. The sleeves and verso have had Thomas’ number “30” sewn to them in matching blue-over-red tackle twill numerals while “Thomas” has been heat-pressed to the affixed matching nameplate in single layer blue twill letters. Worn during warm-up and on the bench during the game, the jersey shows light wear through rubbing/pilling to each sleeve near or at the cuff from Thomas’ gloves, the most of which is seen on the left one, as well as a lone puck mark on the left sleeve and pilling at the back of the collar. Additionally, the jersey has been photo-matched with Getty Image #96935358 (February 21st, 2010 vs Canada) to the loose blue thread at the top of the “3” on the right sleeve. A Nike Team Sports inventory barcode is heat screened on the interior hem alongside a MeiGray/Team USA tag numbered “USA00647”.
