Undrafted after four solid years in the Ontario Hockey League as a member of the Toronto St. Michael's Majors including a final season that saw him register 89 points in 66 games, Matt Ellis was signed as a free agent by the Detroit Red Wings in the Summer of 2002, finally cracking the NHL lineup during the 2006-07 campaign. Spending 286 of his 356 National Hockey League played in the uniform of the Buffalo Sabres, offered here is this Sabres 40-year anniversary third jersey worn by Ellis during the 2011-12 season. Made by Reebok, a size “56” flag tag is affixed to the inner collar while logos of the NHL and Reebok are found on the front and reverse necklines respectively. Featuring “Buffalo” arching across the chest in individual white felt letters, a 1970 Sabres crest has been placed beneath, with “37” over the sleeves and verso in coarse white felt affixed with cross-pattern stitching. Ellis’ name is spelt out across an affixed yellow airknit nameplate in single layer blue letters. The interior hem of the jersey features Sabres team tagging designating it as an official 2011-12 game jersey with a hologram sticker present above the fight strap. Sporting just light game-wear, just a couple of board burns are observed over the sleeves while loose threads are seen at the neck on the interior.
