Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
An eyebrow raising grouping of six is offered here in this lot of vintage and modern hockey card offerings. Leading the way is a pair of MINT 9 offerings from PSA consisting of a 1969 Topps #76 Stan Mikita and a 1978 Topps #10 Bryan Trottier. The Mikita offering shows only the lightest touches of wear to the corners seen on the reverse of the card while the Trottier shows light corner and edge touches. Following that up, is one more slabbed offering, this time a 1972 O-Pee-Chee #128 of Frank Mahovlich that shows no obvious flaws to the naked eye and has been deemed worthy of a NM-MT 8 designation. A trio of ungraded cards make up the remaining half of the group, with the oldest and most intriguing example being a low grade 1971 O-Pee-Chee #251 Bobby Orr All-Star card that has been signed by Orr in black ink. The autograph shows heavy fading while the card has creases and wear throughout and is missing the top left corner. A 1989-90 O-Pee-Chee #1 Mario Lemieux is present, displaying well with sharp corners but the card has a crease at the bottom of the card between the “A” and “R” in “Mario”. Lastly, is a 500 Goal Scores jersey card of Frank Mahovlich from 2001 Be A Player. Exhibiting light corner wear, a red swatch of jersey is found on the front of the card alongside the “Big M’s” image of him in his Canadiens uniform.
