A member of the famed “Kraut Line” of the Boston Bruins with Milt Schmidt and Woody Dumart, Bobby Bauer along with his B’s linemates were the first NHL players to join the Royal Canadian Air Force. After winning the Allan Cup in 1942 with the Ottawa RCAF Flyers, Bauer would play with the Halifax RCAF club for 1942-43 and is pictured in this framed team photo in the bottom row, third from the left. Measuring approx. 13 ½” x 5 ¼” with full frame dimensions of 19” x 11”, the photo is affixed to a cream-coloured backing with team information and players names found below. The photo displays in good condition with a large liquid stain found on the cream-coloured backing. The frame shows dings and scuffs throughout with the back paper showing a liquid stain of similar style. Additionally included with the team photo, are two signed photos of Bauer, also in his RCAF uniform. The first, measures 5” x 7” and is signed “Best of Luck, Joe” with Bauer’s signature underneath. Signed in black fountain pen, the autograph and inscription are light or washed out in most areas. The photo remains in admirable condition with damage to the top edge and a crease that spans the width of the image along the bottom. Toning is present with handling wear also seen with light spotting on the back as well as the pencil inscription “Bobby Bauer alone, RCAF 1943 at Halifax, N.S.” The second image, measuring approx. 3” x 4”. has again been signed with a black fountain pen but the autograph displays without issue. The image presents in better shape with just handling wear and toning seen as well as a scratch over the front above the autograph.
