Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022

Shocked by a powerful and well-disciplined Soviet squad in Game 1, with goaltender Vladislav Tretiak appearing impregnable, the famous Canada-Russia Series in 1972 would see the Canadians come back strong in Game 2. Held at MLG in Toronto on Sept 4th, the red and white scored a trio of third period goals including from each of the Mahovlich brothers, with the score concluding 4-1. We offer an original 1972 Canada-Russia Series program and Game 2 ticket stub. The program was produced for each of the four Canadian games, with dual flags on the cover along with the original “Two Dollars” purchase price. The 1 ¾” x 4 3/8” ticket stub lists the game, date, venue and seat, along with the $7.00 cover price, with advertising on the reverse from CCM. The program remains in good overall condition with toning and creasing to the covers near the spine with a few spotting and stains present on both the front and back. Additionally, the front cover has been signed by Bobby Hull with a blue pen ink signature that displays without issue. The ticket exhibits even toning throughout with light corner wear as well as ding to the left edge while a small mark is found on both the front and back.
