Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022

Two Montreal Canadiens icons who helped the Habs return to Stanley Cup glory the season that these cards were found in Parkhurst packs combine for a fetching lot here. The team as a whole was on a mission after the 1954-55 season ended with the Richard Riot and the Red Wings edging the Rocket-less Canadiens in a seven-game final. Beliveau won the scoring title and Hart Trophy in ’55-56, with his card #44 receiving a mark of EX-MT 6 several years ago at PSA. A somewhat generous assessment by today’s standards, in our opinion, with some folks likely questioning, “why have the standards changed?” Meanwhile, the Richard card lays nice and flat and boasts a very pleasing surface, with light corner/edge wear (in the red at the bottom) giving it an EX-MT appearance, although an extremely small light back crease and scratches/marks (also upper back) make for our final VG+ assessment. Two of Montreal’s all-time most beloved athletes await your Parkie/Habs shrine, with a few small light scratches to the front of the PSA holder to mention.
