Extremely popular throughout its lengthy run and issued in three different groups, the St Lawrence Starch Company’s Bee Hive hockey photo promotion began in the mid-1930s and concluded in the mid-to-late-1960s. This lot offers a collection both Group 2 (140) and Group 3 (37) photos totaling 177. Included in the Bee Hive Group 2 photos (1945-64), we have 23 Boston Bruins including 4 photos which had the bottom of the photos glued and have back damage (Toppazzini, Mohns, McKenney & O'Ree), along with Perreault, Flaman, Stapleton, Bucyk, Boivin, Stasiuk and others, 17 Chicago Black Hawks photos including 2 photos which had the bottom of the photos glued and have back damage (Nesterenko & Wharram), along with Litzenberger, Hull, Mikita, Lindsay, Maki and others, 22 Detroit Red Wings photos including 1 photo which had the bottom of the photo glued and has back damage (MacGregor), along with Faulkner, Arbour and others, 27 Montreal Canadiens photos including 1 photo which had the bottom of the photo glued and has back damage (Berenson) & Maniago is reglued and damaged, along with the Rocket (2), Beliveau, Plante, Harvey, Richard and others, 24 NY Rangers photos including 1 photo which had the bottom of the photo glued and has back damage (Gilbert) & Ingarfield is reglued...Labossiere is a good one but has writing on back, along with Worsley, Prentice, Gadsby and others, and 27 Maple Leafs photos including Keon, Kennedy, Mahovlich, Horton, Stanley, Armstrong and others. The Group 3 photos (1964-67) total 37 and include Bernie Parent, Wayne Hillman, Phil Esposito and Marcel Paille. The majority of the photos display nicely and show light to moderate wear unless otherwise noted. There is also a 1938-39 Quaker Oats photo of Bill Thoms (large crease).
